About Edge Browser
Microsoft Edge is a web browser – it’s a program you can use to access the internet. It lets you visit websites, watch videos, check your email, use online forms, and more. Edge is developed by Microsoft and is built into all Windows computers. You can open Microsoft Edge by:
- Pressing the Start button, typing Edge, and selecting it from the list
- Clicking the blue "e" or wave-like icon on your desktop or taskbar (if available from these locations)
What can I do with Edge?
- Browse the internet (e.g. visit Google, news, email)
- Search for information using the built-in search bar
- Bookmark your favourite pages so you can find them easily later
- Download files or images from websites
- Open multiple tabs to look at different websites at once
How do i search for something?
At the top of the Edge window is the address/search bar. Just click in it, type what you're looking for and press Enter.
How do I go to a specific website?
If you know the web address, type it into the address bar (e.g. www.kingborough.tas.gov.au) and press Enter.
What are tabs?
Tabs let you open several pages at once in the same window. Each page has its own tab at the top. You can switch between them by clicking on the tabs, and you can close a tab by clicking the X on it.
How do I bookmark a page I like?
To save a website for later:
- Click the star icon (or the bookmark icon) in the address bar
- Choose a name and location for the bookmark
- Click Done
Can I use Edge on my phone or tablet?
Yes! Microsoft Edge is available on mobile devices too. You can download it from the App Store (iPhone/iPad) or Google Play Store (Android).
