Tips for Creating a Strong Passphrase

Forget tricky passwords—passphrases are the new standard. They're longer, easier to remember, and much more challenging to guess.

What makes a strong passphrase?

  • Longer is better: Use at least four random words, with a total of 14+ characters. Example: purple mountain rocket door
  • Unpredictability is key: Avoid common phrases or quotes. Try random words instead.
  • Make them unique: Don't use the same passphrase for different accounts. If one gets hacked, the rest are safe.

Stay Safe with Your Passphrase

  • Never share your passphrase
  • Don't use public Wi-Fi without a VPN
  • Log out when you're done
  • Be cautious of emails or messages asking for your login details

If you suspect your passphrase has been compromised, change it immediately and check your email at Have I Been Pwned to see if it has been exposed in a data breach.
