Notifications for Likes and Reactions

In Microsoft Teams, you can quickly respond to messages with a Like ๐Ÿ‘ or other emoji reactions (โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ข ๐Ÿ‘ ๐ŸŽ‰). These let you show emotion or agreement without needing to type a reply. You'll receive a notification when:

  • Someone reacts to a message you posted
  • Someone replies to your messages and reacts to it
  • You're @mentioned in a message and someone reacts to it

You won't be notified when someone reacts to a message you didn't write (unless it's in a thread you're involved in).

How do I change my notification settings?

You can control which notifications you receive, and how. While reactions are a great way to respond to a post, the notifications can become overwhelming. The Digital Experience team recommends turning off these notificationsโ€”the reactions will still be visible within the post.

  • Open Teams and select the three dots menu from the top-right and choose Settings
  • Select Notifications and activity from the left-hand menu
  • From the drop-down menu, select Off for these notification settings:

  • New invites, updates and cancellations sent to me (calendar)
  • When people forward meetings I've organised (calendar)
