About Teams Chat

Teams chat is your go-to space to send instant messages, share files, have quick calls, and collaborate one-on-one or in groups. It's like texting or emailing—but all in one place, and easier to follow.

Starting a New Chat

  • Click the New Chat icon (top of the chat panel)

  • In the To: box, start typing a person's name (or multiple names for a group chat)
  • Type your message in the box at the bottom
  • Press Enter to send

You don't need to start a new chat every time. If you've messaged the person before, just click their name in the chat list.

Group Chats

You can chat with multiple people in the same conversation.

  1. Start a new chat
  2. Add more than one name in the To: box
  3. Give the group a name (optional but helpful)
  4. Everyone in the group will see all messages and files

Tip: Use group chat for small project teams or regular quick updates. It's a great way to replace internal emailing lists.
