About Teams Chat
Teams chat is your go-to space to send instant messages, share files, have quick calls, and collaborate one-on-one or in groups. It's like texting or emailing—but all in one place, and easier to follow.
Starting a New Chat
- Click the New Chat icon (top of the chat panel)

- In the To: box, start typing a person's name (or multiple names for a group chat)
- Type your message in the box at the bottom
- Press Enter to send
You don't need to start a new chat every time. If you've messaged the person before, just click their name in the chat list.
Group Chats
You can chat with multiple people in the same conversation.
- Start a new chat
- Add more than one name in the To: box
- Give the group a name (optional but helpful)
- Everyone in the group will see all messages and files
Tip: Use group chat for small project teams or regular quick updates. It's a great way to replace internal emailing lists.
