About Your User Account

As a Kingborough Council staff member, you're set up with a secure account to access all the digital tools needed for work, like email, file storage, and other systems. Your access is set up based on your role, to help keep everything safe and organised.

Your User Account

  • You'll be provided with a username and password to log in to council systems.
  • This account lets you access email, shared files, apps, and more.
  • Your login details are private; do not share them with anyone else.

Need to change your name? If you legally change your name, you can request an account update through the Help Hub. The Digital Experience team will handle the changes, including updates to your email address and system access, and guide you through the process.

Keeping Your Account Safe

We use a few key tools to protect your account and information:

  1. Strong Passphrase

Instead of a short password, you'll use a longer passphrase—a mix of words or characters that's easy to remember but hard for hackers to guess.

  2. Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

When you sign in, you'll get a code on your phone or a prompt to confirm it's you. This provides an extra layer of protection if someone else knows your password.

  3. Antivirus Protection

All council computers are equipped with antivirus software to help prevent viruses and other malicious software from affecting your device or information.

  4. Windows Hello (on some devices)

If your device supports it, you can sign in with your face or fingerprint instead of typing a password—quicker and more secure.

All of these tools work together to keep your account safe and protect council data. If you ever have questions or need help, the Digital Experience team is here to support you.
