Connect to a Printer
If you've moved desks, changed sites, or your printer has disappeared from the list, you can usually add it back yourself.
Before you start
You need to be on the council network, either in the office or connected by VPN. See Connecting to Systems from Home (VPN) if you're working remotely.
Add a printer
- Open File Explorer, or press Win + E.
- Click into the address bar at the top, type
\\printsvrand press Enter. - A window opens listing every council printer.
- Find the printer for your location using the table below, then double click it.
- Windows installs the printer and connects you. It will then appear in the printer list in Word, Outlook and everywhere else.
Which printer to choose
You will find the printer name located on each printer to make it easy to connect to the right one.
| Location | Printer Name |
|---|---|
| Civic Centre, ground floor (back area) | BackPrinter |
| Civic Centre, ground floor (compliance) | Compliance |
