Importing a CSV File into Spectrum

Follow the steps below to import a CSV file into Spectrum and display it on the map.

1. Add File to Map

  • Click the + (plus) icon in the top right corner.
  • Select Add Layer.
  • Choose Add files to map temporarily.

2. Upload CSV File

  • Browse to the saved location of your file.
  • Select the file (must be in .csv format).
  • Click Next.

3. Configure File Settings

  • Tick First row is a header.
  • Set the Projection:
    • Select MGA2020 Zone 55 [EPSG:7855] from the dropdown.
    • Tip: Type 7855 in the search bar to quickly locate the projection.

4. Assign Coordinate Fields

  • Define coordinate fields as follows:
    • X / Longitude → Easting
    • Y / Latitude → Northing
  • Note:
    • CSV files may contain coordinate fields labeled as:
      • X and Y
      • Longitude and Latitude
      • Easting and Northing

5. Add Data to Map

  • Click Add.
  • The data will appear on the map.

6. Adjust Layer Display (Optional)

  • Click on the imported layer in the layer tab.
  • Modify:
    • Icon
    • Colour
  • Adjust styling as required.

Notes:

  • This upload is temporary only.
  • If the map:
    • Refreshes, or
    • Times out

      → the file will be removed and must be re-imported.
