Pathway - System and Data Access
Access Request
1. Logins
Pathway has its own logins, in addition to your PC login. Your role can have specific Pathway access requirements. Accounts and Pathway access are setup by a request to IT.
2. Role access
The request to IT must specify what your role is, with preferably a username of some else in a similar role. Otherwise, security access starts with basic access granted.
If you need Smart-Mobile (cut down web-app) or Cashier access, you need to have a Pathway password setup.
You will be granted access to a collection of access required for your role:
· Menus (normal and/or administrative)
· Dashboards (HomePage & InContext – on forms)
· Workflow Tasks access
· Module access
- Customer Service request types
- Application types
- Licence types
- Inspections
- Infringements
- Properties / Rates / Names
- Inclusion in Register dropdowns
· Inclusion in e-mail notifications (tasks, notices)
· Notes access in each Customer Service request type
· Documents in each module
· Editing abilities in each module
· GIS (mapping) access to/from Pathway properties
3. Installation
Once you have been granted access and notified you can install Pathway from the Intranet ‘Pathway Smart Client Install’: Smart Client Install
You will need to install this on every computer you want to use Pathway on.
Additionally, if you need to click on Pathway e-mail links or run the older Thick-Client menu options, you will need IT to enable them.
The Smart-Mobile application needs a Pathway password setup and access is via a web browser: Smart-Mobile URL
Changing Access
You can request changes to enable additional / temporary access if your role changes.
Menus, dashboards, request, application, licence, (data) registers, workflows, can all be modified or newly created custom as needed. Start your custom enquiry by logging a call to IT.
Working From Home
Pathway can be accessed from Home by logging into the Council Network.
The best way to do this is from your home computer with Citrix to your PC at work; otherwise, a VPN connection with a work laptop from home will experience network lag over the internet (especially for thick-client menu options and interactive batch processes), and possibly experience network drop-outs and lost work depending on your internet connection. If you lose connection with Citrix, your PC at work will not lose anything and you can reconnect with and continue.
Reports and Data Access
For those that do not need Pathway access, but do want reports or data from it, you can access Pathway data in:
- reports in SSRS - request access to reports via IT.
Hint: filter the report data you want and then export to Excel.
Note: Your menu contains reports granted access to and details when last run. You can also browse through the report folders to find reports. The reports are live, interactive, and linked to each-other for browsing through summaries to details (a ‘system’ of reports). You can setup regular e-mail subscriptions or share-files for report outputs.
The ‘System’ of reports is an on-going project, including:
- tools not in Pathway.
- a data warehouse to support quick reporting of trends and historical data summaries, and cross database reporting (mix and matching data from separate systems).
- MS-Excel – request data and/or spreadsheet reports via IT.
Note: these data extracts/reports contain live data and are refreshable with a right-click.
- Old Crystal reports (based on Infomart)
Hint: filter the report data you want and then export to Excel.
- Infomart – request database access from IT.
This is a SQL database for warehouse/simplified Pathway Data.
Note: The Pathway database is very detailed, with thousands of tables. The Infomart is simplified. It is only refreshed with the previous day’s data.
Can’t find what you need? Request new reports or access from IT.
