Optimise the Outlook Mobile App for your Android Phone
After you set up email in Outlook for Android, you can customise the mobile app to stay connected the way you want.
Set Swipe Options
Customise swipe options to take action on emails in your inbox quickly.
- Tap Inbox at the top of the screen to open the side panel.
- Tap Settings, then Mail.
- Tap Swipe Options, then tap Swipe Right or Swipe Left and select an action.
Turn Focused Inbox Off/On
Focused Inbox separates your inbox into two tabs—Focused and Other. Your most important emails are on the Focused tab, while the rest remain accessible on the Other tab. Focused Inbox is on by default.
- Tap Inbox at the top of the screen to open the side panel.
- Tap Settings, then Mail.
- Tap to toggle Focused Inbox on or off.
Turn Organise by Conversation Off/On
Conversations give you the option to group your emails by conversational threads based on the message Subject and to arrange the reading pane by Newest on top or on bottom.
- Tap Inbox at the top of the screen to open the side panel.
- Tap Settings, then Mail.
- Tap Email Organisation, then tap the toggle to turn Group Emails by Conversation on or off. You can also select the option for Arrange The Reading Pane, either Newest on Top or Newest on Bottom.
Change the Calendar View
You can select Agenda, Day, 3-Day, or Month view.
- Select Calendar at the bottom of the screen.

Change or Update Outlook Notifications
- On your device, go to Settings > Notifications.
- Scroll down your list of apps to Outlook.
- Update your notification preferences.
Add the Outlook App to the Dock/Home Screen
You can easily add Outlook to the "dock" on your home screen. This means that, regardless of which page of your home screen you're on, the Outlook app will always be just one click away.
- Tap and hold your finger on the Outlook app.
- Drag it to the Dock or App Bar at the bottom of your screen.
